Yeison & Maria - Styled Elopement in Barcelona, Spain
I went to Spain a little bit on a whim. I knew that I wanted to expand my portfolio into elopements and destination weddings, but Spain was never really on my list of places to visit until I was invited a conference in Barcelona. Let me tell you though, Spain should be on everyone's list, so if it's not on yours, stop what you are doing right now and put it right at the top. So, I built a little trip around that conference and planned to shoot a few different styled elopements along the coast of Spain. I felt a bit like a crazy person, packing my bag completely full of dresses and details, leaving out extra pairs of socks and clothes for myself! And let me tell you, hauling that stuff around Spain was no easy task, but looking back on the connections I made and the images that I took, it was so worth it!
I met Yeison and Maria through a mutual friend and they were so sweet and eager to meet me for our early morning shoot, but also to just chat about life and their future plans together as they planned and prepared for their own wedding! We serendipitously walked into a dress shop in the heart of Barcelona and as soon as I saw the dress, I just felt the romance of the city stitched into each piece of flowy chiffon fabric. It made my heart sing! Nina, the shop owner and designer, carefully packed up the dress, vest, and bowtie and lent her beautiful pieces to us for the shoot! If we ever renew our own vows, Nina will be the first person I go to for a dress...the romance she brings into each piece is just incredible!
Yeison and Maria arrived around 6 AM on their motorcycle, then the flowers came by taxi (haha I know, kind of hilarious), we got to work on hair/ makeup, and we were out in the streets by 8 AM. As we were wondering through the city, they were telling me all about how they met and their heart for serving the youth together at the church they are a part of. They were planning for their own wedding in the Fall and were so excited to become husband and wife, it even made me giddy for their future together!
I'm so glad I met these two and got the opportunity to work with some incredible vendors to help make my dream of destination elopement photography come to life! So here is what my vision of an elopement in Barcelona might look like: romantic, deep, and moving, just like the city itself. Enjoy!
