Mom and Dad, I beg you, please take time for yourselves during our session!
I usually always try to ask parents if they want a few images of just the two of them during a session, and most of the time, people say yes. But a good amount of the time, parents also say no because one reason or another: "oh, I don't want it to look like we are going to prom" or "I think we might look silly without the kids" or "I don't think we have time" or "I'm not sure where we will put the baby." I am telling you now, we will make time for some alone time and I am more than capable of holding your little one while using my camera. I have a young toddler myself, so I am getting quite accustomed to doing things while holding a baby! I urge you to forget about your worries, your concerns that you will look silly. When you and your kids look back at your images 5, 10 and 20 years from now, I want you to have these beautiful memories of where the family started, with just the two of you!
When Savannah asked me if we could spend just a couple minutes during our session with just her and her husband, John, my heart leapt with joy! I think it's so important and special to get photos with just mom and dad, get back to the roots of relationship if only for a few minutes, eyes only on each other (even if the kids are nearby acting wild). Alone time with your loved one can be rare when you are a parent, so I make it a point to capture those moments, however brief. I spent a good amount of time during our session with just these two, and it was truly one of the sweetest things to witness. Here are a few favorites from our session!
