A Valentine's Day Letter from my Brother to His Fiancé: Arthur and Erica's Romantic Boston Engagement Session
For my brother, Arthur, and his fiancé, Erica, we planned a special engagement session in Boston (Erica's home town)! For the dress, I made her a long gown, a nod to my mother's red velvet wedding dress but a little bit more modern. The talented Lacey Heist came to do hair and makeup around 6 am, and I picked up some loose florals from Winston Flowers and made this bouquet (thanks to my private lesson with Amanda Jewel Floral Design 💕). Then, we hit the streets for an adorable engagement session in the beautiful Beacon Hill area of Boston!
Okay, enough about the planning, here are the images from our session and a sweet letter from my brother to Erica on this Valentine's Day:
On my very first day of class at the Basic Officer Leadership Course in Ft Lee, Virginia, I sat back in my chair and searched the classroom for at least one familiar face. Anyone who has gone through any Military school, knows the search I was under. There's always a small hope that you will run into an old battle buddy or see someone from a previous unit, but at this early point in my career my search was useless. I knew no one, and I didn't recognize any patches. But something amazing happened as I looked through the room. My eyes fell on her. And I had no problem allowing my eyes to rest on someone I had never met before. Mainly because I use the word 'rest' in a literal sense. When I looked at her I was comfortable. I was composed. I was relaxed. I've never told her, but the first day we sat in class together, I found my solace in watching her just be... her. Which is the same look I will give her today, tomorrow, and for the rest of our lives together.
When first spoke to her, I never suffered from speechlessness. I celebrated in her repose.
I'm not a man of many words, so I've never been able to describe it to her, and I've never tried because of it.
Forever and ever, Amen,
